Pottery is an unpredictable and fragile art form. Despite utmost care, items can occasionally suffer damage while travelling to or from the studio. Because clay expands, contracts, and undergoes intense chemical transformations at temperatures over 1,200°C, invisible air bubbles, microscopic flaws, or hidden stress fractures can occasionally cause a piece to crack or break in the kiln, events that are completely outside the control of the studio. In the rare event that your piece breaks or cracks during shipping or firing, Headstreams will let you know immediately with photos of the piece and offer you the choice to have your original piece shipped back to you as-is, or receive a finished piece of similar value handpainted by their in-house artist.
